AMON AMARTH: Jomsviking

Jomsviking is the band’s first proper concept album, finally letting the Viking lore take centre stage instead of hovering menacingly in the background.

The riffs are huge, the choruses are unavoidable, and Johan Hegg sounds like he could still be heard clearly from the next fjord over.

Musically, Jomsviking sharpens the band’s attack without losing scale - shorter, punchier songs, stronger hooks, and a real sense of forward motion.

It’s epic without being indulgent, melodic without going soft, and utterly confident in its own identity. No reinvention here, just a veteran band doing heroic metal very well and not seeing any reason to pretend otherwise.
